In 1989, after serving 2 years in the United States Navy as an aviation structural mechanic, Charles King Byrne began working at a 50's nightclub/showplace in Denver called Packard's Diner. Hired as a dance-floor host and character actor, Charles was well suited for the job, having already gained nearly 20 years in "legitimate" theater. Although initially impersonating Jerry Lee Lewis, John Travolta, Ike Turner and the occasional "Supreme", Charles submitted the requests of patrons to develop an Elvis® show as well. Within 6 months, clients were asking Charles to perform at weddings, Bar-Mitzvah's and birthday parties. In 1991, he began dropping his last name when marketing and performing his Elvis® Tribute Shows and assumed the moniker Charles King, The Shadow of Elvis®. The name of his show derived from discovering that his measurements - from height to weight, from inseam to chest, from arm length to boot size were all within one-eighth of an inch to Elvis®' own measurements circa 1956 to '73. In short, Elvis® and Charles would cast identical shadows.
That was 11 years ago.
Since then Charles has been in national Television ads, performed privately in 1992 for President Bill Clinton, been featured in the best-selling book "Everything has it's price", flown to Rome, Italy for an appearance on the single most watched television show in the country, and even performed for an audience of 70,000+ people at Mile High Stadium.

Elvis® tribute shows are now his sole profession. Fortune 100 companies have flown him from coast to coast performing at their regional and national functions, and he has gained the respect of such Elvis® insiders as Eddie Fadal, Police Chief Jerry Kennedy, and DJ Fontana.
When not in the jumpsuit, gold lame' or leather, Charles is a devoted father to two precious boys, Chaz and Zach. It is to them and "The Man Upstairs" that he dedicates every show. Charles also involves himself in numerous non-profit and charity organizations including Magic Moments Inc. of Colorado of which he is a member of the Board of Directors. Magic Moments provides funding for groups and organizations that assist the disabled and partially-abled individuals in the community. More information can be found at www.majicmoments.com, a website Charles designed and maintains for Magic Moments.

He also has continued to develop his talents as an entertainer by learning abilities outside the Elvis® genre'. Juggling, stiltwalking, emcee work, and musical theatre performances fill Charles' off-Elvis®-hours. Charles is the author of no less than 5 books including the soon-to -be released novel "Conflagration."
