Multi award-winning Elvis® performer Marcus Wells specializes in recreating what is often referred to as Elvis®’ most moving performances: his final tour in 1977. Blessed with a voice uncannily similar to Elvis®’, Marcus presents a concert (Spirit of ’77) that is identical in content to Elvis®’ last performances: modernized renditions of his hits from the fifties, a sprinkle of power songs such as “Hurt” and the haunting “Unchained Melody”, Elvis®’ last rocking numbers such as “Way Down” and a variety of Gospel songs which Elvis® adored, namely “How Great Thou Art”. On stage, Marcus endeavors to evoke the same touching persona that Elvis® displayed on his last tour: an imposing physical presence, a sense of fun and comfort with the audience and a certain sense of the inevitability of fate, echoed through a humbled countenance. Since Marcus performs an often-overlooked and very emotional period of Elvis®’ career, Elvis® fans are usually delighted to be able to relive, in a small way, Elvis®’ last public moments and the fun and laughter are often mingled with tears.
Marcus is currently touring with Paul Ross as one half of the “Double Trouble” team as they present their complete tribute to Elvis® encompassing the 50's, movie performances, the 68 Special, the early and On Tour years and Elvis®’ 1977 Sundial concerts. Married to Victoria and the father of little Tommy, Marcus feels blessed to have been gifted with a passion for singing and performing and with a great opportunity to come together with Elvis® fans in an homage to a man he admires and loves deeply.
